The OCVP approaches violence and insecurity from a scientific perspective, drawing on the fields of conflict management to responses at the district, regional and national levels. Linked to the growing number of Somali academic institutions, the OCVP is also plugged into an international network academic research institutions working on areas of conflict and crime. Furthermore, OCVP draws outside expertise when necessary to further advance programming in the Somali regions. Hence, OCVP is situated at the crossroads between academics, community practitioners and policy makers.
